I recently deleted all my social media. Partly for personal reasons, and partly because the tech billionaires are evil and all that. Tired of the soul sucking algorithms and fake connection. I’m turning to text and email as my main methods of communication.
I do occasionally enjoy sharing photos and stories from my life as I explore new things that are interesting to me, and people seem to like those posts when I’ve made them on IG. I’m saving up for a pretty big adventure and I’d like to document that as I go, and people will want to live vicariously. I also have a lot of good stories from the last 10 years that have gone untold.
So I figured I’d refocus my writing efforts at simply describing what’s going on in my life rather than trying to write Medium articles about abstract topics that I don’t know enough about. And since I’m not trying to reach a wide audience or anything, I’ll just host it a website on my own page rather than be part of a network.

My goal, ideally sometime in 2026, is to find rides on people’s sailboats to get to New Zealand and then hike the Te Araroa, the 2,900km (1800mi) trail that spans the country from north to south. From there, I’m not sure — I’d like to keep traveling the world ideally, but it’s too far out to predict.
In the meantime, I’m working at a boatbuilding job in order to save up enough money to be comfortably financed. I’m learning about sailing so I’ll be useful on other people’s boats. I’ve got my own cheap little 23′ boat that I’m learning on, and planning to sail around the San Juan islands in September. I’ve been living on friends’ sailboats for 10 months. Hoping to head out on the big trip next year.
I also learned last year that I’m a Canadian citizen due to my mom being born there, and I’ve received my Canadian passport, which should be a good asset for world travel and it also makes me curious to try living on Vancouver Island for a while.
One time last month I was scrolling through my photo history with my girlfriend Kait and I kept remembering so many fun stories from my days thru-hiking, hitchhiking, and traveling in my bus and other vehicles I lived in.
I figured that while I have this period of stability in my life as I work and save up money, it might also be fun to go through those photos again and tell the stories here.
And once I leave on my other travels, I can update you about those here as well.
Maybe someday, if I travel more of the world, I will have enough expertise on the ideas I am passionate about to write something valuable about them; something worth reading that will make an impact.
